Gadar 2: Before the release of the 2023 blockbuster film ‘Gadar 2’, the rift between its director Anil Sharma and lead actress Ameesha Patel was in the headlines. Recently, the filmmaker talked about this and revealed that Ameesha was initially not ready to play the role of a mother-in-law. However, she felt that when she was ready to play the role of a mother on screen, she should also be ready to play the role of a mother-in-law. Ameesha played the role of Sakina in Gadar and then its sequel.

During a latest interview given to Siddharth Kannan, Anil Sharma said, “In the story of Gadar 2, she (Ameesha Patel) could not get as much space as she got in Gadar 1. She could not understand age and time, that age is one thing. Everyone has to understand that since you are Jeete’s mother, you will have to become his daughter-in-law’s mother-in-law as well.”
He said, “I believe that you are working very hard on yourself but you are an artist, Nargis had also become a mother in India when she was young, so she had to become a mother.” Anil further told that Ameesha sometimes used to say that she will not play the role of mother-in-law. I don’t know who filled his mind with these meaningless things.
Ameesha will always be Sakina of Gadar 1
Anil Sharma further said that in today’s world there is a perception that actors should avoid certain roles to maintain their image. This could have created conflict in his mind. But, the issues got resolved with time. Despite these challenges, Sharma also expressed his respect for Ameesha and said that she will always be like Sakina from Gadar 1 to him, and he has no ill will towards her. He said that she is a part of his family and will always be so.
